Winding down

So, we have about three weeks to go until the end of the semester.  The website finally has form and is actually visible!  That is something!  I’ll say, it’s been a hell of journey to this point.  If I had to do it again, and I still have half of the degree requirements to go, I’d rather avoid the IT stuff.  I think I’ll leave it to the younger crowd, for sure!  Although I now have a profound appreciation for the skills of good web designers, and I am ok with HTML. at least to the point where I don’t find it intimidating, I won’t be designing any other web sites in the near future, if ever again.

The good news is that I’ll be going back into management, where I am comfortable and find a great deal of personal job satisfaction.  I am preparing my application for the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute and have found a mentor to walk with me and guide my journey.  I’m very excited about this program and am looking forward to being accepted by August.

This week, I’m going to finish creating the individual pages for my web site and get them linked,  After that it’s a matter of making it pretty and making sure it fulfills the requirements of the assignment, and we’re done!

So, the final web site I’m critiquing here is: http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/default.asp.  I would say, that this is the perfect ending to this website critiquing!  This site is just lovely.  The colors just jump out at you and the logo is just plain cute.  It is well-balanced with lots of white space that makes the whole site feel light and airy.  There is a great deal of that move-down stuff that, as you know from previous posts, annoys me.  However, the content just might be any web designers dream!  This is a place that any and all serious designers should keep on their favorites and refer to as often as they have time.  I guarantee, if you have the inclination and the time, you can get lost in here – for HOURS!  Bon Voyage!
